WELCOME TO THE NATIONAL HIGHER POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE (NAHPI) OF THE UNIVERSITY OF BAMENDA

Dear visitor, It is with much delight that we welcome you to this website of the most nascent and prestigious National Higher Polytechnic Institute (school of engineering) of The University of Bamenda. Created on the 24th of November 2017 by a Presidential Decree, teaching at the Institute effectively took off on the 7th of March 2018, with approximately 300 students in class for the 2017/2018 academic year. All initial six Departments of the Institute are running: Civil Engineering and Architecture; Computer Engineering; Electrical and Electronic Engineering; Mechanical and Industrial Engineering; Mining and Mineral Engineering; and Petroleum Engineering. Other Departments, including Chemical and Biological Engineering (with juicy programmes like Agricultural Engineering, Genetic Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology and Food Process Engineering) will come on board with time. Students are admitted into the school through a competitive entrance examination into the First or Third Years of studies to do a 3-5-year programme, in which the successful ones will obtain a Bachelor of Engineering (B. Eng, which is A/L plus four years) and/or the professional Master of Engineering (M. Eng, which is A/L plus five years). Students could then proceed to obtain the MSc (one year after the M.Eng or two years after the B.Eng) and PhD degrees (min three years after the MSc). The Division for Continuous and Distance Training will begin admitting students for short courses soon. As is the case with all top Engineering Schools, much emphasis will be placed on hands-on exercises, experimentation, field/industrial visits as well as lenghty internships in the course of the training. A minimum of 25% of the overall teaching will be undertaken by fully qualified practitioners. We look forward to welcoming you to NAHPI at the UBa Campus in Bambili-Bamenda at the begining of the next academic year. Thank you so much for visiting this site.
